Education Support Services by TDVA
TDVA provides educational support to disabled veterans and their families, including funding for 1,767 graduating students. As of June 2006, the association had disbursed over 6,235,264.13 birr to assist a total of 3,591 students. Additionally, TDVA has extended educational aid to more than 1,802 members. Currently, 1,913 students are enrolled at Nicolas Academy, of whom 1,202 are children of veterans.

TDVA Health Service Impact
Over the past 3 years and 9 months, the Tigray Disabled Veterans Association (TDVA) has made a significant impact on veterans’ healthcare: * 3,505 members received free medical treatment at Ayder Referral Hospital. * 1,363,719.34 ETB was invested to cover transportation, food, and pension bills for sick members. *Emergency medical support was enhanced with:
*A dedicated ambulance (donated by the Bureau of Health).
*A specially equipped bus for transporting severely injured members. Through these efforts, TDVA has ensured critical healthcare access and financial relief for disabled veterans, reinforcing its commitment to their wellbeing.
TDVA Training Services:
To enhance the productivity and employability of disabled veterans, TDVA has provided vocational training to 10,275 members, including 1,353 women, in critical skills such as: Agricultural development (irrigation, dairy production) Business skills (trading, financial assessment) Technical trades (driving, welding, auto repair) Through partnerships with Sur Construction PLC and Trans Ethiopia, TDVA has extended this initiative to support 450 children of veterans who couldn’t pursue higher education. These youth received professional certification at Red Star Training Center (TVS) in: * Automotive repair * Welding technology * Commercial driving A unique feature of this program is its employment guarantee – successful graduates are offered immediate job placements within partner organizations, ensuring direct transition from training to sustainable livelihoods.

TDVA's Land and Housing Support Services
TDVA’s Land and Housing Support Services To improve living conditions for veterans, TDVA has: Provided urban land allocations to 11,539 members for housing Constructed and donated fully-furnished homes for 7 severely injured veterans in Axum Invested 900,000+ ETB to build a miller house for rural unions, supporting local economic development .These initiatives demonstrate TDVA’s commitment to ensuring dignified housing and sustainable livelihoods for veterans in both urban and rural communities.

TDVA's Credit Support
To empower veterans financially, TDVA provides: *Interest rate subsidies covering 5% for 7,499 members *Guaranteed collateral worth 54.3 million ETB through Dedebit Microfinance *20% advance deposit on credited amounts to facilitate loan access This comprehensive credit support system has enabled thousands of veterans to access capital while reducing their financial burden. Alternative version with more detail: TDVA’s Financial Empowerment Program Through strategic partnership with Dedebit Microfinance, TDVA delivers critical financial services: * Interest Subsidies – Covering 5% interest rates for 7,499 veteran members * Collateral Support – Backing loans worth 54.3 million ETB * Upfront Deposits – Providing 20% of credited amounts to facilitate approval This three-tiered approach significantly improves veterans’ access to credit while minimizing their financial risk.
TDVA Orthopedic & Physiotherapy Services

For two decades, TDVA has delivered comprehensive rehabilitation services in collaboration with the Mekelle Ortho-Physiotherapy Center (MOPC)
*Provided physical therapy treatment to 56,364 members.
*Invested 28.3 million ETB covering: *Transportation
* Nutritional support
* Pension contributions Distributed 48 advanced motorized wheelchairs (worth 1.2 million ETB) through partnerships with:

TDVA Medical Compensation Program
TDVA ensures comprehensive support for severely injured veterans through two key compensation programs:
1. Primary Disability Support *Beneficiaries: 4,352 members with serious physical injuries *Monthly Compensation: 452 ETB per member *Annual Commitment: 23.6 million ETB
2. Supplementary Assistance
*Additional Support for: 791 critically injured members
*Enhanced Monthly Stipend: 750 ETB per member
*Annual Investment: 7.1 million ETB This tiered compensation system provides tailored financial support based on injury severity, demonstrating TDVA’s commitment to veterans’ welfare.
TDVA Job Creation Program (2007-2010 EC)
Over the past four years, TDVA has empowered 5,364 veteran members with sustainable employment opportunities across diverse sectors:
✅ Commercial Distribution – Supplying factory products, dairy, and livestock
✅ Urban Infrastructure – Engaging 2,703 members in cobblestone projects
✅ Business Development – Providing 1,733 members with dedicated workspaces in urban areas This initiative has strengthened livelihoods while contributing to Ethiopia’s economic growth.
