TDVA Distributes 5 Million Birr in Emergency Aid to 2,290 Displaced Veterans

In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, the Tigray Disabled Veterans Association (TDVA) /EFFORT has delivered 5.015 million ETB in direct cash assistance to 2,290 war-disabled veterans forcibly displaced during Tigray’s genocide.
Critical Support Details
💵 Aid Package:
- 2,190 ETB per veteran for 2 months’ basic needs
- Covers food, medicine & shelter for most vulnerable cases
📌 Target Recipients:
- Amputees and severely wounded veterans
- Elderly veterans without family support
- Widows of fallen combatants
Genocide Context
⚔️ Many recipients:
- Lost homes during 2020-2022 siege warfare
- Survived targeted attacks on veteran communities
- Lack access to federal disability pensions
TDVA’s Statement
“This keeps our heroes from starving while we fight for systemic solutions,” said Ato Teklehaymanot, TDVA Aid Coordinator. “That 2,190 birr is often all that stands between dignity and despair.”
